Bath Sands Garden of Reflection
The Bath Sands Garden of Reflection was opened in 2019 in Haycombe Cemetery.
The management of Haycombe Cemetery donated the area for the garden and supported its development.
The garden was designed by Brett Hardy and materials and machinery were donated by Sydenhams and Smiths.
The sculpture was created out of Portland stone by Iain Cotton.
Many bereaved parents have played their part in the development and maintenance of the garden.
The garden was opened by Bel Mooney, who was instrumental in founding SANDS in 1978. with the words 'Those who are mourning the loss of a stillborn or newborn baby really need a place where they can feel at peace and know that others who visit understand. The beautiful garden in Bath will provide such a haven - a shared, sad focus for a particular loss that can be hard to put into words yet which changes you life forever'
